Julie lives in Olathe, Kansas with her retired husband and Maine Coon cat. She and David raised 6 sons and 1 daughter and now enjoy 9 grandchildren all close to home. She has been a recognized Formation Leader in Level 3 of CGS since 2018 and has been team-leading L3 courses since 2008. The highlight of every week for her is spending time in the Holy Trinity Lenexa Atrium with 9-12 year olds which she has been doing for 24 years. She has a BA in Theology from Rockhurst College and has served on the Board of Directors of the SonFlower Region of CGS. Her favorite downtime activities after adoration, include reading, improving her Spanish skills, and dabbling in sculpture and piano.
Jo Thornley Cox
Jo has been in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd since 2001. She is certified in all three levels and is a formation leader recognized by the U.S. Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in Levels I and II. She is grateful to have worked on formation teams in Missouri, Kansas, North Dakota, Texas, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Ottawa, Canada. A graduate of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College near Terre Haute, Ind., she also earned a primary certificate from the American Montessori Society. She worked as a Montessori directress in a Catholic school and a parish director of religious education before committing to CGS. As a charter member of the SonFlower Region of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, she served on its board for many years. She established several atria in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph and is co-coordinator of CGS at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish/School in Kansas City, Mo. Jo and her husband have three children and a granddaughter.
Millie began her CGS formation in 2007 and became a formation leader in 2020. She balances education and music in her work life, currently serving as an accompanist for the choirs at St. James Academy and playing on the weekends for area parishes. When not serving as wife and mother, she loves integrating theology, pedagogy, and Montessori in her formation courses. She received her BA from Benedictine College in Religious Studies, Secondary Education, and English, and her Masters from Wichita State in English and Benedictine in School Leadership.
Diane has been involved in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd since 1990. She is a certified CGS catechist in Levels I, II and III, and became a CGS Formation Leader in 2002. She coordinated the CGS program at Holy Trinity Parish in Lenexa KS for 23 years. Diane has a B.A in philosophy and math from St. John’s College in Santa Fe NM and an M.A. in Pastoral Studies with an emphasis on CGS (MAPS-CGS) from Aquinas Institute in St. Louis MO. She is married, the mother of six and the grandmother of thirteen.
Marilee has been a Primary Montessori Guide at Sancta Maria School in Eudora KS for 37 years. She fell in love with the Good Shepherd at the first national training in South Bend, Indiana and for the past 30 years has been listening to the voice of the Shepherd with the children in all three levels of CGS. As a formation leader for Levels 1,2,&3, she has been blessed to listen to the Shepherd with adults as well. Most recently the Shepherd called her to be the director of Mary’s Catholic Montessori Training Center. She served one term on the CGS National Board and currently serves on the CGS Discernment Committee. She received an AMI certificate from Avila College and BA in Early Childhood Education from the University of Kansas. Her greatest joy is being a mother and grandmother.
Catherine has been involved with CGS since 2004 and has been a level I formation leader since 2015. She has a B.S. in Social Work and a MTS in theology. She co-leads, bi-annually, level I formation for students and staff at Benedictine College, and occasionally co-leads other courses in the region. In addition to CGS, she is active in a theology of the body co-op for Atchison children, and in Teams of Our Lady marriage support. She lives with her husband and their five children in Atchison.
Jeanne is certified in all three levels of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
She has been working with the children in the atrium since 1997. Jeanne was one of the
founding mothers of the CGS program at Holy Trinity Parish in Lenexa, Kansas, and was co-
director of the program for nearly 10 years. She is currently a formation leader for Level I and Level II. Jeanne presently works with children in the atrium at Holy Trinity Parish. Continuing to enhance her knowledge, Jeanne has attended the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Heritage course through the Aquinas Institute in St Louis, Missouri. Jeanne is also a trained Montessorian for ages 3 – 6, having received her certification in 2023. Jeanne graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. And Jeanne is a wife, mother, and grandmother.
